As Cameo Systems Modeler/MagicDraw progresses farther and farther beyond being just a modeling tool, it begets more and more active analytical computational capabilities.

Between DSL derived properties and relationship criteria for dependency matrices, model validation and smart packages, model metrics and active legends, all these functions require specifying an expression to be computed. Hence, it becomes increasingly important to get a good grasp on expression building including more complex use cases.

This webinar is especially useful for Cameo Systems Modeler/MagicDraw customizers - people who adapt the tool for company-specific needs and modeling methodologies.

The session demonstrates
  • Introduction to the main building blocks of structured expressions
  • Defining and calling reusable operations
  • Combining parts into an expression tree
  • Incorporating scripts into structured expressions
  • Using higher order operations: filter, map, roll-your-own
  • Recursion
  • Putting it all together

A long-time No Magic employee Tomas has an extensive and varied knowledge of various MagicDraw functionalities, UML modeling, and profile building. As a senior systems analyst, he helps to shape future MagicDraw versions, works with multiple customers (including GE Transportation, Ford, Nokia, Europcar) and is active in standards-making organizations (OMG).

Being a "father" of structured expressions functionality, Tomas is a go-to person to learn about making and putting to use complex expressions.

Tomas holds a Master of Science degree in Computer Science from Kaunas University of Technology and is an OMG-Certified UML Professional.

 

Generating Reports from Model Data MBSE

Description

Reports are one of the most important artifacts produced from the model. They can represent any fragment or viewpoint of the model, for example, requirements list, architecture and/or behavior of some system component, results of trade-off analysis, etc. Both the contents and structure of the report are defined in the report template.

Cameo Systems Modeler offers a wide variety of predefined templates for generating reports of different types: textual documents, spreadsheets, presentations, etc. Furthermore, the tool allows to create custom templates, which is a common case as in real life organizations have specific needs for report structure, contents, layout, and format.

Knowledge of the Velocity Template Language (VTL) used within report templates is necessary for understanding, editing, or creating templates.

The session demonstrates
  • Creating templates for Microsoft® Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Creating XML templates for interchanging data between modeling tools
  • Using VTL in combination with scripts to develop advanced templates

Edgaras is Oracle-Certified Java SE 6 Programmer and OMG-Certified UML Professional Modeler.

He has been with No Magic Europe since late 2012. While contributing to the development of the Model-Based Systems Engineering environment, Edgaras has gained a lot of experience in systems and software engineering. He also provides professional services to Abbott, ACORD, DUO, Hospira, Ford, Nokia, Siemens, and other worldwide-known clients of No Magic, Inc.

Producing custom report templates is one of the strongest areas of Edgaras expertise. Besides professional services, he has delivered training courses and workshops on report templates development.

Edgaras holds a Master of Science degree in Computer Science from Kaunas University of Technology.

For more than 15 years of experience, he has gained a lot of knowledge in software development, and now has a large expertise in software and systems engineering, model-based enterprise architecture solutions, business process modeling techniques and adopting modeling solutions for enterprise level organizations.

Jovaldas has experience as the Analyst Team Lead at Alna Software, one of the largest IT companies in Lithuania, that builds custom IT Solutions for public sector organizations.

Jovaldas has a master degree from Vytautas Magnus University (Lithuania), and also is OMG Certified UML And Business Process Management professional.

Oggigiorno, l'MBSE (Model Based System Engineering, ovvero l'Ingegneria di Sistemi basata su Modellazione) è resa possibile dal SysML (System Modeling Language).

Tuttavia il SysML non costituisce né un framework architetturale, né una metodologia. Ciò apre una discussione su come strutturare il modello, che viste costruire, quali manufatti produrre e in quale sequenza. Ogni società tratta questi argomenti in modo diverso. Le organizzazioni che non osservano l'approccio standardizzato finiscono per avere modelli strutturati differentemente con un set di viste difformi. Questo finisce per impedire la capacità di interscambio dati e di comunicazione tra differenti team di progetto, causando costi addizionali di personalizzazione dei tool e necessità di percorsi di addestramento specifici. Oltretutto i modelli diventano impossibili da integrare, condividere e riutilizzare.

In questo webinar analizzeremo alcune "Best Practices" di Ingegneria dei Sistemi, illustrandole e dimostrandole con esempi pratici tramite il tool Cameo Systems Modeler.

Questa sessione sarà presentata da Carmelo Tommasi, rappresentante di No Magic in Italia e pioniere dell'applicazione del SysML all'Ingegneria dei Sistemi, al MBSE, alla gestione dei requisiti, design, verifica/validazione e tracciabilità.

Carmelo ha più di 30 anni di esperienza di lavoro con multinazionali di software, ha fondato, tra le altre, le filiali italiane di Telelogic, Artisan Software Tools, Atego, delle quali è stato amministratore delegato.

Carmelo ha introdotto la tecnologia MBSE in numerosi progetti dell'Esercito, dell'Aeronautica e della Marina Militare, oltre a essere mentore dell'adozione di tale metodologia presso le maggiori aziende del gruppo Finmeccanica/Leonardo.
